1. DISTANCES:

Each TRITON event features three distance options: SPRINT, MIDDLE and LONG. The SPRINT distance is represented by the color WHITE, the MIDDLE distance by the color RED and the LONG distance by the color BLACK.

  • SPRINT – 1 km swim, 30 km bike, 10 km run
  • MIDDLE – 2 km swim, 60 km bike, 20 km run
  • LONG – 3 km swim, 90 km bike, 30 km run

Athletes can race solo or, in the case of the SPRINT distance, as part of a team (CORPORATE RELAY). You can also register individually for one of the disciplines—swim, bike or run.

⚠️Keep in mind: only those who register for and complete one of the full triathlon distances—SPRINT, MIDDLE, or LONG—will be eligible to score points in the TRITON Series and qualify for a future championship event.

⚠️Drafting is allowed during the bike leg of TRITON 3 Rio de Janeiro, which means TT bikes (time trial bikes) are strictly prohibited. Only standard road bikes compliant with draft-legal regulations will be permitted.

5. TRITON TROPHY:

At TRITON 3 Rio de Janeiro, there are awards on all three days!

We award the Top 5 male and female finishers in each distance (SPRINT, MIDDLE, and LONG) for each discipline — swim, bike and run.

In addition, on the final day of the event, we celebrate the overall TRITON champions. The trophy is truly one of a kind and serves as a case to display your finisher medals and is awarded to the Top 5 male and female athletes in each distance.

6. RESULTS:

At TRITON 3, each discipline—swim, bike and run—has its own individual results and rankings. The top 5 overall male and female finishers in each distance (SPRINT, MIDDLE and LONG) are awarded separately for each discipline.

For athletes competing in the full triathlon format (all three days), there’s a separate overall ranking based on the cumulative points earned across the swim, bike, and run. Awards are given to the top 5 overall male and female athletes in each distance (SPRINT, MIDDLE and LONG) based on this combined ranking.

Additionally, in the triathlon category, we also recognize the top three finishers by age group.

7. EXCLUSIVE SCORING SYSTEM:

At TRITON 3, the winner is decided by a points scoring system, the athlete with less points when we add the results of all three days. This allows for all disciplines to have equal weight in the final result, ultimately, showing who the more balanced athlete at all disciplines is, meaning, the “true” best triathlete.

At TRITON 3, the first athlete to finish each sport gets 1 point, second, 2 points, third 3 points and so on. The athletes with less points is the winner.
